The Open Education Resource Foundation (OERF) has established an international social innovation partnership that works to develop and deploy sustainable solutions which widen access to affordable learning in higher education.
Community service though innovative open solutions
Our international network of education institutions from five continents has collaborated effectively:
- To assemble award-winning open online courses designed for independent study. These courses are based entirely on open educational resources (OER) so that learners, who cannot afford access to higher education, can study for free.
- To implement an internationally recognised system of transnational micro-credentialing. This system provides pathways for learners to gain formal university qualifications via approved bilateral credit transfer and course articulation agreements.
- To deploy only open source solutions to create sustainable business models for publicly funded higher education institutions.
- To support higher education institutions in the developing world by providing free access to the network through the OERu Outreach Partnership Programme.
